Executive Principal's Message - Week 1, Term 1
Hello everybody!
I would like to say a wholehearted welcome to school for 2026. In the fast-paced lives we live these days, the holidays seem to sail by quickly and we are back and rolling for a new school year. Perhaps some parents who have had to navigate children with a lack of structure and routine may have an alternate perspective and have been on the countdown for the new school term to commence. In any case, I do hope you were able to have a refreshing break across the Christmas season and are now looking forward to all that God has in store for us.
This year, we will welcome 143 new students to our community. A number of these will be in Kindergarten but it is also true to say that we have new students commencing in every grade within the school apart from Year 4 and Year 8 (waiting lists) and Year 12. Along with all the new students commencing, we also have 23 new staff joining us across all departments within the school.
There have also been several developments that have occurred over the holidays across our campus. Our new Junior School slides have been installed on what has affectionately become known as Hobbiton. The Gaga Pit has been resurfaced with hard rubber to make it much more suitable for the students. Astro turf has been laid across a large area in the JS playground where weather created ground challenges. Our Year 6 classrooms are now fully operational, as is the West Wing Administration Block.
Physical resources are important, but we are a school focused on teaching and learning. It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements of our outgoing Year 12 cohort. The students achieved ten Band 6 results across a range of subjects. That is the most in the history of the school. It is wonderful to celebrate continual improvement and set new benchmarks.
Whilst all this growth and development across the ministry is exciting, it remains imperative that we don’t lose sight of the core purpose of why the school exists. Last week I spoke with the staff and shared from Deuteronomy 6. Moses addresses the Israelites before they are about to enter the promised land. He recognises that with all the blessings they are about to experience there will be a temptation to lose their focus and reliance on God. In verses 6 and 7 (no pun intended) Moses writes, "These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” We would love you to partner with us this year in impressing on our own hearts, and those of the students in our care, the true blessing of knowing Christ, and the privilege we have to serve Him as part of our ministry.
God bless,
