Principal's Message - Week 9, Term 4
As we come to our final newsletter for the year, I would like to thank you all for the contribution you have made to all that God has blessed us with at WCCS. Schools are dynamic places with many events and constant change. At our Presentation Evening I am intending to reflect more on some of the developments that have occurred over the last 12 months. There really is much to be thankful for.
The world is constantly changing, and our school is not immune to the impact of that change. Which means we need to be intentional about what we value and desire to hold onto. GK Chesterton makes the point that if you want something to remain the same, leaving it alone in a torrent of change doesn’t mean it will remain the same. He points out that if you leave a white post alone it will soon be a black post. If you particularly want it to be white, you must be always painting it again. If you want the old white post, you must have a new white post.
As we experience seasons of change, the responsibility to be intentional about remaining true to our mission and vision is amplified. At the same time, in Revelation 22:13 God reminds us, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.’ Hebrews 13:8 reads, ‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.’ Amongst change we can find peace and comfort knowing that we worship a God whose loving nature and surpassing knowledge will always remain. And we have a Saviour who likewise will not change.
As we come to the end of 2025 we are farewelling a range of staff. Four to retirement, and others to work closer to home. We want to sincerely thank each of them for their service to the ministry of our school. If you see them over these last few days you might like to wish them well. The staff who will be moving on from WCCS are; Mr Jason Benn, Mrs Jenny Charker, Mr Lance Gierhart, Miss Jessica Fedder, Mrs Deb Lamb, Mrs Libby Scott, Mr Hunor Kicsi, Miss Zoe Dumbrell and Mrs Amelia Cox. Mrs Alana Reynolds will be heading off on Maternity Leave for 2026 also. We have 21 new staff commencing with us for next year as our ministry continues to expand, but we will wait until the new year to introduce them.
You may have also seen in the past week that NAPLAN results have been published. I am delighted to report that WCCS is ranked fourth on the Central Coast for our Secondary results. Of course we know that academic achievement is only one metric for us to measure our progress. Growth in faith and character are other important metrics also. At the same time, we desire to live out our value of excellence in all areas of school life, and it is wonderful to celebrate the achievements of the students and subsequently the staff in this way.
I would like to thank you all again for your partnership and support of our ministry this year. I do hope that you are able to have a restful break and a meaningful Christmas as we reflect again on the blessing of Jesus coming to Earth for us. I look forward to ministering alongside you all for 2026 and for all that God has prepared in advance for us to do. I’m confident it won’t be boring!
God bless,
